FEATURED STUDENT

ELIANA

#1: FUR ELISE

Fur Elise, also know as Bagatelle No. 25 in A minor, was written by Ludwig van Beethoven in 1810. It has become one of his best known piano pieces. The German title is simply means “For Elise”.

Some confusion remains regarding who Elise was. What makes it more puzzling is that he wrote the piece the same year he proposed to Therese Malfatti. While there are multiple theories floating around, the most recent research shows that she may have been a piano student of Therese.

#2: MINUET IN G

Minuet in G was written by Johann Sebastian Bach as part of a collection of piano etudes called The Twelve Little Preludes. Written in the 1720’s for his 9-year-old son, Wilhelm, each piece was carefully crafted with him in mind.

Bach went on to write a plethora of piano music and
other works throughout his life.
